Gib'Sea 51
Bare Boat Charters Cruising Greece And Turkey
The Gib'Sea 51 is the flagship of the Dufour cruising
line. Created for the charter market, this yacht offers the best of Dufour's innovative
and sensible design implementations. The standard layout boasts five cabins. Two doubles
aft, two doubles just forward of midships, and separate crew quarters in the bow accessible
by deck-hatch, all five cabins with separate water closets. The two midships cabins can
convert from over-and-under bunks to doubles in minutes. The galley
and salon are opposite amidships and facilitate meal preparation and serving to a dinette
which can seat ten. The separate navigation station is just aft of the galley to port and
features 12v and 220v panels and instrumentation. This is a well-conceived floor plan with
room for socializing and accommodation of large groups. On deck the Gib'Sea 51 cockpit is
the focal point of the boat. Twin wheel design, low coaming, and pass-thru transom combine
functionality and comfort. Wide side decks and a "Dolphin Nose" assist in
anchoring and setting a spinnaker or gennaker.

Are you considering a cruise meandering over azure seas among Greek Aegean islands? Or are you searching
for a bare boat charter in Turkey? Dreaming
of a bare boat sailing on or off the wind from pine-shrouded cove to pine-shrouded cove? Or is it charter
cruising in both Greece and Turkey which you seek? How about doing one or the other or both aboard a

ancient Lycia. Or to sail Francis Beaufort's tracks among Greek Aegean islands and along the coast of
Turkish Caria. While you holiday. While you holiday with friends cruising the Greek and Turkish Aegean
under a warm sun. While you holiday aboard a charter yacht proceeding leisurely from enchanting locale
to historical crossroads. Does that sound like charter cruising in Greece and Turkey! Or what! Why not
charter a Gib'Sea 51 to cruise further along the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Beyond the Turquoise
Coast. To Pamphylia and Cilicia. As did Francis Beaufort in 1811 and 1812. Beaufort, he of wind and sea
scale fame, descended from French de Beauforts, wounded veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, and later Royal
Navy Hydrographer. Starting in Gocek. Are you searching for Gocek in Turkey? Ancient Callimache? For
Fethiye in Turkey? Ancient Telmessos? Well, they may be found at opposite inland corners of the large gulf
30 nautical miles east of Rhodes Town, with Gocek fifteen miles by road from the international airport at
Dalaman. There we can arrange bare boat charters cruising Turkey and Greece. We can put you aboard a
charter yacht and show you the flat sailing waters of the Gulfs of Gocek and Fethiye, show you Francis
Beaufort's track down the coasts of Lycia, Pamphylia, and Cilicia, show you his route back up the coast of Turkey and among Greek islands, or show you
an earlier Francis Beaufort's route among Aegean islands of Greece. Depicted above, this earlier Francis
Beaufort was the illegitimate grandson of French King Henry IV. Born in 1616 as Francois de Vendome, later
Duc de Beaufort, he came out of the Thirty Years War a decorated veteran with an appealing charm, especially
appealing to Marie de Rohan-Montbazon, Duchesse de Chevreuse and a powerful influence at court. There were
rumors of royal intrigue. Crossing Cardinals Richlieu and Mazarin, de Beaufort spent many years in prison
or as a fugitive hiding in England. Eventually redeeming himself, he was in 1658 placed in command of the
French Navy, and in the years to come led successful expeditions against Barbary corsairs at Algiers, Bougie,
and Cherchell. In 1669 he led another expedition into the Aegean in support of Venice which then was at
war with the Ottomans. Putting troops ashore in Crete his forces were cut to pieces outside of Candia
(Iraklion). According to some sources this earlier Francis Beaufort perished in combat at Candia and his
remains were returned to Paris in a box. According to other sources his failure at Candia, or perhaps a
further intrigue, resulted in a shackled return to Paris and yet another imprisonment, this time in the
Bastille and later in the Chateau d'If. In this version of history Francis Beaufort was the Man In The
Iron Mask. Not Dumas Pere's Man In The Iron Mask but the real Man In The Iron Mask who died in
confinement in 1703. Come puzzle over it yourself. The Duchesse de Chevreuse meanwhile sat for Velasquez's
famous portrait The Lady With A Fan. Puzzle over this, too. Come look for the evidence. Come bare
